LAHORE (Dunya News) - People across Punjab continue to suffer due to prolonged power outages amid scorching heat in the province.

 

Major cities are facing up to 14-hour loadshedding with no letup in the hot weather while up to 18 hours of loadshedding is being carried out in rural areas.

 

According to latest statistics, the total power supply is 12,500MW against a demand of 17,500MW. The gap between generation and demand has resulted into a shortfall of 5,000MW due to which prolonged hours of loadshedding is being carried out.

 

The daily life of residents has been severely impacted as there is also a reported shortage of water.

 

The electricity consumers pointed out that repeated variation in supply load was resulting into faults to the electronic appliances. It may be noted that humidity level has increased manifold and weather has become unbearable for the electricity consumers.

 

It is also worth mentioning that energy crisis has become a challenging issue for the country.

 

The PPP-led government had to lose general election due to this issue. And now it has become a challenge for the newly elected government.
