Summary Protestors blocked main Maripur road, causing massive traffic jam in the area.


KARACHI (Web Desk) - Residents of Lyari blocked main Maripur road to protest against deteriorating law and order situation in the area on Thursday. 

 

Traffic was suspended due to disturbance on the Maripur road. Agitated protestors also torched two trucks and pelted stones on nearby vehicles.

 

It is pertinent to mention here that residents are facing extreme difficulties due to ongoing shooting incidents in different areas of Lyari.

 

Consistent firing occurred in many areas including Agra Taj Colony, Bihar Colony, Jumma Baloch Road, Kalri and other adjoining areas for the past five days. Hand grenade attacks were also reported in some areas. 

 

According to details, the number of killings in Karachi jumped to more than 2,300 in 2012 from 1,700 the previous year. More than 1,400 murders have already been recorded since the start of this year.
