Summary Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed grief over the killing of 9 foreign tourists.

 

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The federal cabinet on Monday discussed overall law and order situation in the country with special reference to recent terror attack in Diamer.

 

On Sunday, gunment stormed a mountaineering base camp in northern Pakistan and shot dead nine foreign trekkers and a Pakistani guide as they rested during an arduous climb up one of the world s tallest peaks.

 

The night-time attack - which killed five Ukrainians, three Chinese and a Russian - was among the worst attacks on foreigners in Pakistan in a decad.

 

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed the Interior Minister to ensure arrest of the terrorists involved in an attack on foreign tourists in Gilgit-Baltistan.

 

He said the attack on tourists was the worst act of terrorism against national sovereignty.

 

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan informed the cabinet efforts are underway to arrest the terrorists.

 

He said one of the guides who is alive is being interrogated.

 

He said there are reports that terrorists approached the tourist camp through a guide who provided them necessary information.
