Musharraf treason case: AG awaits final instructions from govt

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Attorney General Munir A. Malik on Monday requested the Supreme Court to adjourn hearing of treason petition against Musharraf till 11:30am.

 

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Jawwad S. Khwaja resumed hearing of a petition seeking trial of former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf under treason charges.

 

During case hearing, the Attorney General told court that he needs time to get final instructions of the federal cabinet on the matter.

 

He said the federal cabinet will discuss the issue in today’s meeting, therfore, the case hearing should be adjourned till 11:30 am.

 

Musharraf, who returned to the country in March after three-year exile to take part in the general elections, is presently under house arrest at his Chak Shehzad farmhouse in Islamabad after Islamabad High Court cancelled his bail.

 

Besides treason charges, he is being tried in the judges’ detention case, Bugti case and Benazir Bhutto’s assassination case.
