PPP protests violation of water distribution agreement in NA

Summary Minister Ahsan Iqbal Sunday left the House after PPP MNAs made noisy protest at his statement.

 

Islamabad (Online) - The MNAs form Peoples Party Sunday staged protest after the statement of Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal.


Minister said in the National Assembly that the agreement between the provinces on water distribution was signed in 1991 when Nawaz Sharif was Prime Minister and he played an important role in the contract.


To this, the MNAs of PPP stood up and started shouting, turning the House into a fish market.


Federal Minster Ahsan Iqbal left the assembly due to the uproar by Opposition.


However, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq allowed Nawab Yousaf Talpur.

He said that in 1991 Sindh inked the agreement with some apprehensions and now it has also some reservations on it.

He said that Chashma Jhelum Link Canal was made for passage of flood water but now putting 65,000 cusec water in it is the violation of the agreement.
