Pakistan summons US diplomat to lodge protest over drone attack

Summary The US Charge d' Affaires was summoned to the Foreign Office to lodge the protest.

 

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - On the Prime Minister s instructions, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi summoned the US Charge d  Affaires Richard Hoagland to the Foreign Office and lodged a strong protest over the US drone strike in North Waziristan on Friday.

 

It was conveyed to the US official that Pakistan strongly condemns the drone strikes which is a violation of Pakistan s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Pakistan government sought an immediate end to drone strikes.

 

It was also pointed out that Pakistan has consistently maintained that drone strikes are counter-productive and entail loss of lives of innocent civilian. It was also stressed that these drone strikes have a negative impact on the mutual desire of both countries to forge a cordial and cooperative relationship and to ensure peace and stability in the region.
