Summary Supreme Court has said that whosoever commits treason will have to be accountable for that.
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News):-Three-member bench headed by Justice Jawad S Khawaja resumed hearing of Musharraf Treason Case and while passing his remarks said that it is very important to come to know about the stance of federation regarding this case.
Pervez Musharraf was of the view that he took the step only in order to secure the state.
While arguing, petitioner, s counsel A.K Dogar said that treason is a constitutional crime and the constitution undoubtedly has determined its penalty.
The court consulted either the president is authorized to forgive penalty under the Article 45 of the constitution.
At this, the petitioner’s lawyer argued that if the constitution recommends penalty, the president can’t award forgiveness.
At this Justice Jawad Khawaja remarked that parliament has made law regarding treason, adding that after holding of general elections, new government is going to be formed and it is possible that the forthcoming government may have diametrically opposite stance on the case. That is why is essential to be aware of the stance of federal government in this regard, said Justice.
Next hearing would be made on May 22.
