Summary A total of 179 million ballot papers have been delivered to the polling stations.

 

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Election Commission has asked all Presiding Officers to take possession of the election material from today (Friday) at their polling stations.

 

The Presiding Officers have also been given powers of first class magistrate to deal with any election-related fraud or untoward incident.

 

The Election Commission of Pakistan has said that process of country-wide distribution of ballot papers has been finished for Saturday s polls.

 

A total of 179 million ballot papers have been delivered on their respective polling stations.

 

Transportation of other election material and their handing over to the respective Presiding Officers has begun.

 

Quick Response Force of Pakistan Army would also be available to react to any eventuality.

 

Extra security cover is being provided to polling stations described as sensitive and high sensitive.

 

Pakistan s more than 86 million voters have the choice of 4,670 candidates standing for the 342-member lower house of parliament and nearly 11,000 people running for the four provincial assemblies.

 

More than 600,000 security personnel will be deployed across the country to guard against militant attacks and around half the estimated 70,000 polling stations have been declared at risk of attack.
