Energy crisis: SC demands feasibility report of Junko Power Plants

Summary NTDC lawyer says Rs 6 billion is required in order to enhance the capacity of janko power plants.


ISLAMABAD (Dunya News):-Three-member bench of Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry conducted hearing of suo motu energy crisis case and consulted about delivery of electricity. 


Iftikhar Gilani, the counsel on the part of National Transmission and Dispatch Company told that court that his institute purchased electricity from the power distributing companies. He also said that Junko Power Plants are in need of Rs 6 billion in order to enhance their capacity for power generation.


Chief Justice while expressing his astonishment remarked that it is very strange that the company is demanding six billion rupees only for 120 Mega Watts.


The apex court has demanded the feasibility report of nine power plants regarding enhancement of their capacity.
