Blast kills 5, injures 15 in Karachi

Summary The blast ripped through a car with green number plate in Nusrat Bhutto Colony.

 

KARACHI (Dunya News) – According to details, the blast occurred outside the Muttahida Qaumi Movement North Karachi sector office in Nusrat Bhutto Colony killing at least five MQM workers and injuring fifteen others.

 

Those killed in the blast were identified as Bilal, Adil, Aqeel and Sunny while three of them belonged to a same family.


The explosives were planted in a car which had green number plate.

 

Police and rescue teams rushed to the area after the incident while the injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

 

Meanwhile, Police and Rangers cordoned off the area and started search operation.

 

According to police, blast caused damage to windowpanes of buildings and windscreens of vehicles.
 

 

Emergency had been declared at Abbassi Shaheed Hospital after the incident.

 

President Asif Ali Zardari, Caretaker PM Mir Hazar Khan Khoso strongly condemned the blast and expressed sorrow and grief over the loss of innocent lives. 

 

MQM chief Altaf Hussain, Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat ul Ibad Khan, Caretaker Sindh CM Justice (r)Zahid Qurban Alvi, PML-N leader Shahbaz Sharif and other political and social personalities also condemned the blast.
