ISLAMABAD (Online): NADRA has delivered Final Electoral Rolls 2012(FER) to Baluchistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Punjab and FATA, the spokesperson of NADRA stated on Friday.

While giving the latest printing status of FER 2012, it adds that copy 1 and copy 2 of FER 2012 with photographs have been delivered to Baluchistan, KPK, and FATA.

The copies 1 and 2 with photographs of the province of Sindh (except Karachi) have been printed and delivered, while the copy 1 of FER 2012 of 32 districts of Punjab out of 37 have been printed and delivered. Similarly, the copy 2 of FER 2012 of 5 out of 37 districts of Punjab has been printed.

The spokesperson further said that by using its Citizens’ database NADRA under the directives of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the first time in the electoral history of the country has included pictures of each and every voter on all computerized electoral rolls.

This step was taken in light of demand raised by a number of political parties and civil society organizations regarding various discrepancies in electoral rolls due to fake, multiple or duplicate entries in previous voters’ lists.

She added that total 86,189,751 voters have been registered in the current electoral rolls, out of which total voters from Punjab are 49.25 million, from Sindh 18.96 million, from Baluchistan 3.33 million, from KPK 1.22 million, from FATA 1.73 million, total 0.626 million voters from Islamabad.

In Pakistan, for many years, electoral rolls were prepared only through door-to-door enumeration and there was absence of any authentic data to back the process up. However, in newer method the data of approximately 81.2 million compiled during preparation on previous rolls was transferred to NADRA for verification by ECP.

Thus all such records which were not backed with a CNIC were removed, since CNIC was declared to be requisite for registration as voter as a consequence of this, 37 million unverified voters that were identified in previous voters’ list were sorted out and all duplicate and fake entries were quashed.

Meanwhile, Chairman NADRA Tariq Malik said also for the first time in the history of country the female registration has almost double in last four years, with a sharp increased of registered women to 86% in 2012 from 50% in 2008, thus making total number of registered female voters 37.59 million.
