Summary The Supreme Court has ordered to provide foolproof security to ex-interior minister Rehman Malik.

ISLAMABAD (Online): The orders were issued by a five-member larger bench headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali while hearing the Intra Court appeal of Rehman Malik.

During the course of the hearing, Rehman Malik requested the court that he has been receiving life threats from militants and his life is in danger. He said that the Taliban has placed a bounty on him and court should provide him security.

On this, the court ordered Interior Ministry to provide Malik security and adjourned the hearing till Friday.

Later talking to media outside the Supreme Court former Interior Minister Rehman Malik said that he told the court that Taliban have fixed Rs 500 million head-money against him and thus he should be provided security on the lines of former President Pervez Musharraf.

Malik claimed that he is under grave threat from Taliban as he had taken many measures against them during his tenure as Interior minister and they have even placed a bounty on his head. He said that despite these threats he is being provided no security while Pervez Musharraf is being given full security.

In a query, Malik said “I have said time and again that senior politicians are facing serious life threats and there is dire need to provide them with tight security”.

In reply to a question he said that he does not want to comment on the statement of interim Interior Minister.
