LAHORE (Online): The election tribunal of Lahore High Court has issued notice to the returning officer to appear on Friday over rejecting nomination papers of former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf from NA-139 Kasur.

It may be recalled that Rival candidate Javed Kasuri had raised six objections against Musharraf’s candidature in Kasur NA-139.

In his objection, Kasuri said that Musharraf was unfit to contest elections in the light of Article 62, 62 of the Constitution for facing several cases. After hearing arguments, Returning Office had rejected Musharraf’s papers.

The former dictator had challenged the rejection of his nomination papers from Kasur, NA-139 constituency before the election tribunal in Lahore High Court.

Pervez Musharraf is of the view that he fulfills the requirements of Article 62 and 63. Moreover, his nomination papers were also accepted from Chitral, NA 32.

Responding over his appeal, the election tribunal has issued notice to the returning officer to appear before the tribunal in April 12 hearing.
