Summary The process of scrutiny of nomination papers will complete by Sunday.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan continued scrutiny of the nomination papers for upcoming general elections on sixth day (Saturday).
So far, the Election Commission has received 23,698 nomination papers from the Returning Officers out of which 20,729 papers were sent back after initial scrutiny.
Some prominent candidates also appeared before Returning Officers today.
Awami Muslims League President Sheikh Rashid’s nomination papers for Rawalpindi’s NA-55 constituency were accepted after he submitted his bank statement.
On the other hand, Sheikh Rashid withdrew his papers from NA-56.
In Dera Ismail Khan, JUI-f Chief Maualana Fazlur Rehman was exempted from appearing before the Returning Officers, whereas, his nomination papers for NA-24 were accepted.
PPP candidate Faryal Talpur’s nomination papers for NA-207 constituency of Larkana were also accepted.
Similarly, Ghinwa Bhutt’s nomination papers were accepted for Karachi’s NA-250 constituency.
Nomination papers for Quetta’s NA-289 constituency submitted by Pashtunkhuwa Mili Awami Party’s chairman Mehmood Achakzai and Jamhur Wattan Party’s Talal Bugti were accepted.
Former minister Sumsam Bukhari’s papers for Okara’s NA-145 were also approved.
Scrutiny of nomination papers is underway and the process will be finalized by tomorrow (Sunday).
