LAHORE (Online): The chief of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazlur Rehman faction) Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that though Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) was their top priority for seat adjustments, it did not work out.

Talking to newsmen here on Friday, he said that he is not scheduled to meet the Sharif brothers in the upcoming days, but if it were to happen he did not see a problem with it.

Speaking about Chaudhry Nisar, Rehman said “He is a brother to me, we have no differences.”

He again made it clear that it is responsibility of the caretaker set up to hold free‚ fair and transparent elections with full dedication.

Maulana Fazl said the Election Commission has devised new rules and procedures this time which will help conduct fair elections on time.

He told a questioner that JUI (F) fought alone at the parliament during the last 5 years.

When asked about the role of establishment in the elections‚ JUI (F) Chief said the establishment is part of our state and it should not have a tilt towards any political group or party.

He said we are in talks with various parties over seat adjustment but also clarified that there were no plans of seat adjustments with the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI).

Rehman is due to contest three seats – NA-24 (DI Khan), NA-25 (DI Khan-cum-Tank) and NA-27 (Lakki Marwat) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata. The Maulana’s brother, Maulana Lutfur Rehman, will run for two provincial assembly seats – PK-66 (DI Khan-III) and PK-64 (DI Khan-I).
