Fake degree: SC issues notices to 20 former MPs

Summary Election Commission today submitted a report over 'resigned' parliamentarians.

 

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Supreme Court issued notices to those 20 members of the former parliament who had resigned over the issue of dual-nationality.

 

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing dual-nationality case on Thursday.

 

During case proceeding, Election Commission submitted a report of resigned MPs.

 

The list of parliamentarians, who had resigned over dual-nationality, included names of Nadeen Ahsan, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Fauzia Ejaz, Sabin Rizvi, Dr Aresh Kumar, Donya Aziz, Arif Aziz Sheikh, Jamil Malik, Fauzia Afzal, Tahirl Ali Javed, Jamil Ashraf, Javed Iqbal, Murad Ali Shah, Sadiq Ali Memon, Abdul Moeed Siddiqui, Askari Taqvi and Muhammad Raza Haroon.

 

Chief Justice questioned that what action was taken against these parliamentarians. The court had ordered action and recovery of all the previliges from dual-national parliamentarians, he added.

 

The Election Commission told bench that o action was taken against them as yet and reasons of their resignations were forwarded to the returning officer.

 

Later, the MPs were served notices to appear in court in the next hearing.
