Karachi case: SC orders to devise strategy over 'no-go' areas

Summary CJP ordered DG Rangers and IG Sindh to formulate a strategy over 'no-go' areas in Karachi.

 

KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Supreme Court on Friday directed the concerned authorities to devise a strategy to close all no-go areas in Karacih.

 

A five-member larger bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry resumed hearing of Karachi law & order case at Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry.

 

During case proceedings, the Chief Justice ordered Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police and Director General of Sindh Rangers to supervise the operation in no-go areas.

 

DIG Shahid Hayat also submitted a report over Arshad Papu’s killing and prayed to court that the details should be kept secret.

 

The bench also ordered to present a report over incidents of target killings, kidnapping and extortion in the violence-ridden area of Lyari.

 

The case hearing is underway.
