Summary The parliamentary committee has until Friday to decide on the name of caretaker prime minister.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The parliamentary committee resumed its meeting on second day (Thursday) to reach a consensus on a name for the caretaker prime minister.

 

Eight-members of the committee including Khurshid Shah, Farooq H Naek, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, Pervez Rasheed, Khwaja Saad Rafique and Sardar Yaqub Nasir are attending the session.

 

During meeting, Chaudhry Shujaat termed PML-N President Nawaz Sharif’s statement printed in the newspaper as ‘non-serious.’

 

On this, Khwaja Saad Rafique remarked that Qamar Zaman Kaira’s statement was also ‘unwise.’

 

Later, Farooq H. Naek and Khwaja Saad Rafique exchanged heated arguments.

 

Talking to the media prior to the second day meeting of the committee in Islamabad today‚ Pervez Rashid said positive results are emerging from the meeting and things are moving logically in accordance with the Constitution.

 

He dispelled the impression that any new names would be added to the nominee list.

 

Another member of the committee‚ Farooq H. Naek said the committee will finally decide the name of caretaker Prime Minister by Friday.

 

Ch. Shujaat Hussain said whosoever may be appointed caretaker Prime Minister‚ it should be decided by the Parliamentary committee at all cost. He said appointment of caretaker Prime Minister is a test for the political leadership.

 

Syed Khurshid Shah said there is no reason for disappointment on the nomination of caretaker Prime Minister. He said no bargaining will be made with any political force on the issue.
