LHC rejects govt assurance in president's dual-office case

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday rejected government assurance regarding President Asif Ali Zardari’s political activities.

 

A five-member bench of the Lahore High Court headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial resumed case hearing regarding implementation of court orders into President’s dual-office case.

 

During case proceeding, the press reports and newspapers showing president’s political activities were presented before the bench.

 

LHC CJ Umar Ata Bandia stated that despite government assurances, President Asif Ali Zardari participated in the political activities in past few days.

 

The court remarked its ruling with respect to cessation of political activities in the Presidency was not being implemented.
The bench added that the president should adopt an honest approach to implement the court orders.

 

The bench later adjourned the hearing till March 29.
