Summary The notification of MQM opposition leader in Sindh Assembly has been challenged in Supreme Court.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News): Earlier Wednesday Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khoro notified Muttahida Qaumi Movement lawmaker Syed Sardar Ahmed as opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly.
The notification, however, has been challenged in a petition filed by PML-F MPA Sharyar Mahar on Wednesday in the Supreme Court.
The petition has made Speaker Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khoro and other concerned officials respondents. The petition states that notification of MQM opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly is a violation of Sindh high Court orders.
Sindh high Court had already given its verdict on the issue in a petition filed by Sahar Abbasi. The SHC had ruled that PML-F should be declared opposition and its member Nusrat Sahar should be appointed opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly. The Sindh government has not implemented the orders as yet.
The petition further said that on one hand the governor is also from MQM while the opposition leader is also from their side. Hence Sindh Government should be directed to implement the order of SHC.
