ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The MQM boycotted proceedings of the National Assembly over the hike in prices of Petroleum products. The MQM members said that the parliamentary committee on the matter was not consulted before the upward revision of POL prices.

 

Meanwhile, PML-N members termed the price hike a ‘petrol bomb’ that has been dropped on the consumers.

 

Several parties other than PML-N and MQM also staged strong protests against NEPRA.

 

Meanwhile, State Minister for Water and Power, Tasneem Qureshi said that NEPRA was the biggest hurdle in way of eliminating electricity load shedding in the country. 

 

Qureshi told the House that solar panels were being locally assembled. He said it has been recommended to replace diesel generators by solar panels as alternative source of energy.

 

To another question‚ Qureshi said two hundred and twenty-five thousand energy savers have been distributed by different power distribution companies in the country.
