Summary Power supply has been restored to various parts of the country including KPK, Punjab and Sindh.

 

Karachi (Dunay News):-Cities across Pakistan, including the capital, Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar had plunged into darkness on Sunday after a major breakdown in the national power grid.

 

 

The blackout began at about 11.30 pm after HUBCO 1,200 MW thermal power plant in southwestern Balochistan province developed a fault and stopped generating electricity. The load was transferred to the Mangla and Tarbela hydel projects but they tripped.

 

 

Water and Power Secretary Rai Sikandar put all the rumours to rest which had been doing the rounds since late night after major cities of Pakistan plunged into darkness due to a power breakdown.

 

 

Addressing a press conference in the early hours of Monday, the Water and Power Secretary Rai Sikandarsaid there was no fault in the national grid and it was instead a cascading effect that led to the power outages.
