Poll ban on defaulters: ECP, FBR, SBP meet Wednesday

Summary ECP, FBR, SBP officials will meet to discuss procedure of barring defaulters from contesting polls.

 

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - A meeting of the officials of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will be held on Wednesday to focus on the procedure to be adopted to stop the bank and tax defaulters’ participation in the elections.

 

ECP sources said that the meeting would also review the access to the data of FBR and SBP for the purpose of scrutiny of the candidates in the upcoming general elections.

 

Sources said that ECP has also approached NAB for keeping away the NAB convicted politicians from the contests, while it was also being reviewed that those released after plea bargain are disqualified, as such persons have in fact committed crimes.
