Summary The PTI has urged the ECP to take action against violation of election code by big parties.
ISLAMABAD: A three-member delegation of PTI led by Jahangir Khan Tareen called on Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan and sought ECP’s viewpoint over misuse of funds and the election code of conduct by the PPP and PML-N leaders.
Others members of the delegation were Ishaq Khan Khakwani and Syed Javed.
The PTI delegation also urged the ECP Secretary to start disciplinary proceedings against 35 dual national parliamentarians who had tendered resignations from the membership of the parliament.
The PTI delegation expressed concern over the fact that despite the fact that the dual national members of the parliament had resigned on being exposed as dual nationals, the ECP had failed to take any action against those former parliamentarians under the law.
The PTI leaders urged the ECP to seek data from FIA record as all the people use passports for foreign visits and the FIA data could easily detect the dual national MPs.
The PTI delegation also asked the secretary ECP to take action against those ECP officials who were working on extension.
The PTI leaders also urged the ECP to allow the overseas Pakistanis to exercise their right to vote through electronic machines. The PTI delegation said that if the people could make transactions of billions of rupees through electronic gadgets, why not the same track could be used for voting process. The PTI delegation urged the ECP to implement the Supreme Court decision of June 2012 in this regard.
