LAHORE: The Police launched a crackdown operation against protesting young doctors and arrested several on the inauguration of metro bus system in Lahore.

 

The police baton-charged the protestors when they pelted stones over them. The police were already surrounding the camps as protesting doctors had threatened to block the route of metro bus system.  

 

Meanwhile, PPP leader and Deputy Parliamentary Leader Punjab Shaukat Basra was thrashed and beaten up by police.

 

Talking to media, Basra said that he was severely beaten up by police at Services Hospital. He termed the incident as an act of terrorism by police at the behest of Chief Minsiter Shahbaz Sharif.

 

Basra, who suffered wounds, announced that he would lodge an FIR against Shahbaz Sharif.

 

Meanwhile, SP Model Town Owais Malik accused Basra of provoking doctors.

 

The protesters were on hunger strike in various camps on jail road while the hunger strike by the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Punjab entered its seventh day.
