Summary Seats were vacant due to death of senators Malik Salahuddin Dogar and Mir Wali Muhammad Badini.

 

ISLAMABAD: The by-elections for seats of Senate from Punjab and Balochistan provinces would be held on January 7, 2013 at Punjab and Balochistan assemblies separately.


This was announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan on Thursday. Both the seats were vacant due to the death of Senators Malik Salah-ud-Din Dogar and. Mir Wali Muhammad Badini.


According to the election schedule issued by ECP, candidates for both the seats would file their nomination papers on 21 Dec and 22 Dec (Friday & Saturday), while scrutiny of nomination papers would be carried out on 24 Dec and 26 Dec (Monday & Wednesday).


Last date for filing of appeals, in this regard, against rejection of Nomination papers would be by 27-12-2012 (Thursday). Disposal of appeals against rejection of nomination papers would be held on 29-12-2012 (Saturday)


According to Election Commission, the candidates may withdraw their nomination paper till 30-12-2012 (Sunday) whereas the of list of contesting candidates would be published on 31-12-2012 (Monday) and the polling would be held on 7 January at Provincial Assemblies Buildings, Punjab and Baluchistan respectively. .


The Election Commission has also appointed Provincial Election Commissioner Punjab as polling officer for election to be held in Punjab Assembly while Provincial Election Commissioner Balochistan would supervise the polls in Baluchistan Assembly,
