President is final authority to decide judges' seniority: AG

Summary President's counsel and Attorney General completed their arguments today.

 

ISLAMABAD: A five member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Khilji Arif resumed hearing of Presidential reference regarding appointment of judges.

 

Advocate Waseem Sajjad, counsel of the President, completed his arguments in the case. He said the president has taken oath of upholding the constitution and he can give his opinion.

 

Attorney General Irfan Qadir also completed his arguments in the case today.

 

He submitted that the president has the right to reject name of any judge about whom he has reports of involving in immoral activities and corruption.

 

Qadir said the president is final authority to decide about seniority of the judges.

 

Justice Ijaz Afzal responded that recommendations forwarded by judicial commission and parliamentary committee are final.
