Pakistan wants good neighbourly ties with India: Nayyer

Summary Chairman Senate Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari said Pakistan wants good relations with India.

 

NEW DELHI: Chairman Senate who is visiting India at the joint invitation of Chairman Rajya Sabha Mohammad Hamid Ansari and Speaker Lok Sabha , Meira Kumar expressed these views while calling on the Vice President of India.


Welcoming the Chairman, Vice President of India Hamid Ansari stated that his visit would further strengthen relations between the two parliaments and the countries.

 

In this context, he also mentioned the visits of Speaker Lok Sabha to Pakistan in February and November this year, and the warm reception accorded to her. Vice President stated that besides the official dialogue, the two countries are now engaged in numerous Track-II initiatives between the civil society.


Chairman Senate thanked Vice President for the warm hospitality extended to him and members of his delegation upon arrival in India.


Highlighting that this was the first ever visit of Chairman Senate to India, he conveyed the greetings and best wishes of Pakistani leadership and people for the leadership and people of India.

 

Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari emphasized that there is a complete consensus in Pakistan in having good neighbourly relations with India.


He lauded the resumption of dialogue process and said that this was the only way to resolve our outstanding disputes. Nayyer also appreciated the enhanced people-to-people contacts, including interaction between the parliamentary delegations and promotion of cultural exchanges.


Earlier, Chairman Senate witnessed the sessions of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.  Both Houses applauded the visit of the Parliamentary delegates.
