Dual nationality: Resignations of 4 MNAs, 6 MPAs accepted

Summary The resignations of 4 MNAs and 6 MPAs, who allegedly hold dual nationality, have been accepted.

 

The resignations of four MNAs of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), including Haider Abbas Rizvi, Fauzia Ejaz, Nadeem Ahsan and Tayyab Hussain, have been accepted.

 

Six MPAs of Sindh Assembly also tendered resignations for holding dual nationality. Out of six four belonged to MQM and two from Pakistan People’s Party.

 

Those who resined were Raza Haroon, Abdul Mueed Siddiqui, Askari Naqvi and Dr Muhammad Ali Shah from MQM and Sadiq Memon and Murad Ali Shah of PPP.

 

Sadiq Memon, Murad Ali Shah and Khawaja Izharul Hasan again took oath as ministers. Sind Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad administered the oath. Raza Haroon was made adviser to Chief Minister.

 

Haider Abbas Rizvi and Muhammad Ali Shah were also made advisers to Sindh Chief Minister.

 

The date of submitting affidavit regarding nationality status expired on November 30. The EC has decided to send names of those legislators who did not submit affidavits regarding their nationality to the Supreme Court.
