Summary Federal government must fulfill its responsibilities under article 154, says court.
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday ordered construction of Kalabgh Dam, Dunya News reported.
The order was issued by Lahore High Court s Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial during today’s hearing of petitions calling for the construction of the dam
The court directed the government to fulfill its responsibilities under Article 154 of the Constitution.
During case proceeding, plaintiff’s counsel argued that Council of Common Interest (CCI) had approved construction of the dam but the decision has never been implemented.
He further argued that federal government in its reply had stated that several resolutions opposing dam`s construction were passed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan assemblies.
After hearing arguments, the court issued directives to the federal government to resume construction of the dam.
