LAHORE: Lahore High Court justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah heard the petition pertaining to the appointment of chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Thursday.

 

During the course of proceedings, the petitioner stated that the government didn’t publish any advertisement of the post, adding that the appointment of Farooq Awan had been made on political basis.

 

He further said that the appointment had not been made on merit which was in violation of law and constitution. Hence, the court should declare the appointment as null and void.

 

The court accepted the plea after hearing the arguments and sought a reply from federal government till December 17.
