At least 12 passengers were killed when a speedy passenger van plunged into Kirthar Canal in Shikarpur. Five women and four children are also among the killed persons.
Rescue teams have started their work and search for missing passengers was in progress till the filing of this report.
Local people retrieved bodies of four women and two children from Kirthar Canal near Gharhi Yasin town after a van, carrying at least 23 passengers, plunged into the canal. Officials said the deceased belonged to Dadu city.
The dead bodies were shifted to civil hospital Shikarpur as locals and rescue teams continued their efforts to recover more bodies of the ill-fated passengers.
Police and local authorizes also arrived at the scene to assist the local people in rescue efforts. Sources said 12 bodies have so far been recovered from the canal. Meanwhile the rescue teams also saved two passengers alive.
