Contempt case: Babar Awan to be indicted today

A three-member bench headed by chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the intra court appeal against the indictment verdict of Supreme Court.Barrister Ali Zafar said that Babar Awan had tendered an unconditional apology but the bench has still indicted his client.Chief justice said that the apology letter is the confession of crime by Babar Awan while the court hasn’t cancelled his apology.Adding remarks, CJ told barrister Ali Zafar that he can only request but cannot direct the court.He questioned that why Babar Awan is afraid of being indicted by the court. He further said that the issue of apology letter can be reviewed after indictment.After listening to the remarks of chief justice, Babar Awan withdrew his intra court appeal.
