According to police, arrest orders of eight main accused including Uzair Jan, Habib Jan and Baba Ladla involved in Lyari violence have been issued.Police have finalised arrangements for operation in Afshan Colony and Gabol Park and all exit and entry points in the area have been sealed.The criminals are using heavy weapons during clash with police in Lyari area which included bombs and rockets. Police also faced resistance during entry in Afshan Gali and Gabol Park. Miscreants also attacked Police Station Lane and Police Station Mandra Para with hand grenades and rockets.A grand operation continued on Saturday, in Karachi’s Lyari area where heavy contingent of Police and Frontier Constabulary personnel are taking action against criminal elements.According to details, nine people including SHO were killed during clashes.Station House Officer (SHO) Civil Lines was killed along with another policeman during a rocket attack near Cheel Chowk in Lyari.Police contingents involved in conducting the targeted operation in various areas of Lyari faced extreme resistance by miscreants.The area resounded with the sound of blasts and firing. Businesses and shops remained closed while transport was nowhere to be seen. Residents of the area remained indoors.The operation was expanded by including 400 more elite commandos.Police have claimed the areas including Nawalin, Cheel Chowk and Chakiwara are under control, however, intermittent gunshots heard in the affected areas.The most affected area right now was Afshani Gali, where one person and another suspected Lyari gang member Sohail was killed.A fresh contingent of law enforcement personnel reached the area and is expected to enter the Afshani Gali in seven to eight armoured vehicles as soon as possible to clear the area.Unidentified miscreants opened fire near Sharifabad and Lyari General Hospital killing two people.SSP CID said that no arrests had been made today, but 20 suspects were arrested yesterday and a huge cache of weapons was recovered.
