Summary Justice Ejaz Azfal said the issue of apology will be reviewed after Awan is indicted.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Justice Ather Saeed on Wednesday resumed the hearing of a suo motu notice taken against Awan after he passed contemptuous remarks against the apex court during a press conference.During today’s proceedings, Awan’s lawyer Barrister Ali Zafar prayed that his client tendered an unconditional apology, therefore, contempt notice should be lifted.In response, Justice Ejaz Afzal while rejecting the apology remarked that issue of apology will be looked into after Awan is indicted.Barrister Ali Zafar argued that court cannot hold contempt proceedings once apology is being submitted in the case.Once a person is indicted by the court, plea for apology stands unacceptable, Justice Ather Saeed responded.The court while adjourning the case hearing till tomorrow maintained that proceedings will move forward after Babar Awan’s counsel completes his arguments.
