Summary Chief Justice said that judges should be indifferent to political pressure or personal interests.

Addressing a three-day International Judicial Conference, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary said that autonomy of judiciary is guaranty for the rule of law.He said that Lawyers’ Movement against oppression of November 3 has a historical importance as all the orders were declared null and void after restoration of judiciary.He said that a special article has been included in the code of conduct that no judge would take an oath by unconstitutional way. The PCO judges who did not seek apology are facing contempt of court, he said.The Chief Justice said that rule of law has deep relation with justice, adding that judges clarify the justification of their verdicts. Equity, impartiality and honesty make sure of good governance. He also prayed for soldiers of Army buried under avalanches at Siachen.
