Summary The government has changed the definition of lifeline consumers of electricity power.
Before this, the consumer who used to utilize 50 units was said to be lifeline but now this definition has been changed and the consumers using 100 units would be called lifeline consumers, the sources said.After an introduction of the new definition, lifeline consumers would be given relief by Rs 2.87 per unit. Before this decision, Rs 1.87 per unit were being charged from the consumers using 50 units and Rs 4.75 from consumers who were using about 100 units.
