Summary Supreme Court has resumes hearing the contempt of court case against Prime Minister today.
A seven-member bench of Supreme Court, headed by Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk, is hearing the case. Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, the counsel for Prime Minister Gilani in the case, has started presenting his arguments before the bench.Aitzaz Ahsan maintained that the bench which serves the contempt notice cannot hear the case.Representing Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, Aitzaz said that Article 10(a) of the Constitution provides a right to free trial which bars the bench issuing the contempt notice to hear the case.Ignoring the argument of Aitzaz Ahsan, the bench remarked it a repeated statement and asked the counsel to present if he had some other arguments.Aitzaz further said that the law pertaining to the contempt of court has been annulled on which the bench clarified that they were hearing the case under the current law.The hearing into the contempt case against Prime Minister Gilani is underway.
