Summary CJP has rued absence of AG during hearing of Balochistan law and order case.

During the hearing of case in Quetta Registry, as filed by the Balochistan High Court, the 3-member Bench headed by CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, resented the absence of AG.The CJP said: “Probably AG likes the Memo Commission more than Supreme Court”.“Is the Memo Commission more important than the Supreme Court?” enquired a visibly displeased CJP.Justice Khilji remarked that “Maybe, because the Balochistan case was issue of the poor masses, while the Memo case pertained to ‘elite segment’”On the occasion, the secretary interior presented his report regarding the issue of mutilated dead bodies, over which the CJP expressed his total discontent and rejected the report, while Justice Khilji also admonished the secretary, asking the secretary whether he was more considerate about his job, than the Federation and his reputation; as none of the issue pertaining to 349 mutilated dead bodies had been resolved.Expressing his strong chagrin over police failure to resolve any case regarding the missing persons, the CJP castigated the IG for his failure to resolve the issue, issuing him strict directives to produce persons missing from Saryab Road in Quetta.He also warned that any failure to do so would entail suspension of all police officials, including the IG.Justice Khilji interjected, remarking, “As long as the female kin of relatives shed their tears in court(s), no one would be at ease”.During the hearing, the police efficiency was strongly criticized for its failure to investigate 95% of cases, while expressing that if the department put in any conducive efforts, a lot could be resolved.The CJP also informed that the name (involvement) of FC featured heavily in the cases of missing persons, and issued directives to include the statements of IG-FC and provincial ministers, Zafar ullah Zehri, Muhammad Younas Mullahzai, Sadiq Imrani, and Ali Madad Jang.The hearing was adjourned till Friday.
