According to details, Senior Superintendent Police Rao Anwar was travelling with his squad when an attacker riding on a motorbike detonated the bomb near armoured personnel carrier in Malir Halt area.As a result, four people were killed and 15 others including two policemen were injured. However, apparent target of the bombing, Malir police chief, was unharmed.Rao Anwar said he was the target and claimed to have been threatened for a month by unknown terrorists.The attack was against me. I was moving with my squad in Malir Halt district when the explosion took place. I am unhurt, but some of my men have been injured, he told AFP.Police official Tahir Naveed confirmed it was a suicide attack.The bomber struck near a bank in a garrison area of the sprawling city, which is home to 18 million people.Police, Bomb Disposal Squad (BSD) and rescue teams reached the blast site and cordoned off the area. The injured have been shifted to Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre.Police officials have said that the reason of security personnel being targeted will be disclosed once investigations have been completed.
