Govt to partly reverse POL prices as public pressure piles up

Summary The government is likely to withdraw hike in POL prices in face of public pressure.

According to Dunya News, the protests being staged by the citizens, transporters, traders and political parties have forced the government to revise the petroleum products prices. However, the withdrawal of petroleum prices is expected to be meagre -- Re 1 to 1.5 per litre. Federal Minister for Petroleum will announce the cut in POL prices in his press conference in Karachi.On the other hand, all the political parties have vowed to continue their protest against the increase in POL prices till its withdrawal.Earlier, the government had increased price of petrol by Rs 8.2 per litre and CNG by Rs 11.98/kg.
