Summary Electricity shortfall has reduced to 2800 mw amid demonstrations against power outages across Punjab

According to PEPCO spokesman, total power generation has reached to 10, 854 megawatts however the demand is 13, 654 megawatts.Due to improvement in oil supply, IPPs are generating 544 megawatts and thermal plants are providing 1823 megawatts of electricity. However, the hydel power generation has restrained to 2392 megawatts due to shortage of water.Moreover, the rental power plants, which were suspended by the court, could produce only 85 megawatts of the electricity.The electricity shortfall has now reduced to 2800 megawatts from 6000 megawatts. The PEPCO spokesman claimed that the unannounced load shedding has been ended and now it is being made according to the schedule of the distribution companies.
