The situation in Karachi has returned to normalcy after a day of violence in Karachi where unknown people set several vehicles on fire while ten people were killed in different firing incidents.The public and private transport has started operating while all educational institutions including universities have been reopened.Meanwhile, attendance in public and private sector is as usual and the traders’ organsations have announced that all the shops and business centres will remain opened today.The unrest was sparked by the murder of a party worker and his brother late Monday, reviving fears that the city of 18 million could return to horrifying levels of violence that left more than 1,700 people dead last year.Mansoor Mukhtar, 37, a member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), the largest political party in the city, was shot dead late Monday when gunmen burst into the home where he was sleeping.His brother also died and his sister-in-law was wounded in the attack in the central neighbourhood of PIB Colony.Soon afterwards, armed men took to the streets and started setting fire to vehicles, in violence that left a further ten people dead and more injured.
