According to the Federation of Pakistan Chambers Of Commerce & Industry, the aim of the exhibition was to promote the emerging sector and to connect local gem dealers directly to the buyers.

Speaking to Dunya News, visitors were pleased with the exhibition and praised local jewellery makers. Visitors said that instead of buying heavily taxed imported jewellery, they would prefer to buy locally made products.

Waheed Ahmed, vice president of FPCCI said that those people who are associated with gems and jewellery business need special attention from the government, and should also be educated about the evolving industry. Ahmed added that this could help in the country’s economy where annually $160 million could easily reach up to a billion dollars by promoting the dealers.

Further, Ahmed said the growth of this industry can provide more employment opportunities for Pakistanis.
