Summary Six new dog breeds will make their debut at the famous Westminster Kennel Club dog show this year.
The show will be held from Feb. 13-14 at New York Citys Madison Square Garden. Along with the 179 other breeds and varieties, the six new breeds, including Mexicos hairless Xoloitzcuintli, the Finnish Lapphund, Norwegian Lundehund, Cesky Terrier, as well as Americas English Coonhound and Entlebucher Mountain Dog, will be competing in the show.Along with the Scottish Deerhound winner of the Best In Show trophy from 2011, the six new candidates were assembled to meet members of the press on Thursday.For the competition, weve been, you know, making sure we take care of her coat, keeping her socialized, because its a shy breed. So we keep her socialized with people and get (her) used to noises. We know its gonna be crowded at the garden, Loren Marino, owner of the Cesky Terrier said.Due to the Mexican hairless Xoloitzcuintlis less-than-endearing appearance, is considered one of the least beautiful canine breeds. However, its owner, a famous jeweler, proudly said that the Xoloitzcuintli is a great choice for a watch dog.The two-day conformation show is held at Madison Square Garden in New York City every year. After its launch in 1877, the show has become the second-longest continuously held sporting event in the United States behind the Kentucky Derby.
