(Web Desk)- Renowned Bollywood filmmaker “Vikram Bhatt” was arrested on Sunday by a joint team of Rajasthan and Mumbai police in connection with an alleged ₹30 crore fraud case.

The arrest took place at Ganga Bhavan on Yari Road, Mumbai, where Bhatt was staying at his sister-in-law’s residence.

The arrest comes weeks after Bhatt had dismissed the allegations as baseless, claiming that the police were misled and asserting that he possesses strong evidence to prove his innocence.

The case was registered at Bhopal Pura Police Station, Udaipur, by Dr. Ajay Mardiya, founder of Indra IVF. According to the complaint, Dr. Mardiya alleged that Bhatt, along with his wife Shwetambari Bhatt, daughter Krishna Bhatt, and some close associates, persuaded him to invest approximately ₹30 crore in various film projects.

The investment reportedly covered four films, several documentaries, and a biopic based on Dr. Mardiya’s late wife’s life. Dr. Mardiya claims he was assured potential profits of up to ₹200 crore. However, according to the complaint, some projects were left incomplete, while others that were released did not credit him for his investment.

Before his arrest, Vikram Bhatt stated that the FIR was factually incorrect and possibly based on false documentation. He added that the real issue arose when some payments were withheld, leading to production delays.

Bhatt maintains that he has complete proof of his innocence and is fully prepared to cooperate with the authorities.

Police have launched a detailed investigation to determine the facts surrounding the investments and the actual nature of the dispute between the parties. The case has drawn significant attention due to Bhatt’s prominence in Bollywood and the large sums involved.

Some of the notable films directed by Vikram Bhatt are Agneepath (1990), Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin (1991), Jaanam (1992), Ghulam (1998), Kasoor (2001), Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage (2002), Awara Paagal Deewana (2002), 1920, and Shaapit, among others.
