Situated opposite to the Arch of Triumph the amusement park is enjoying brisk business despite the summer heat in Pyongyang, capital of the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea.The park was built in commemoration of the triumphant return of Kim Il Sung in the centre of the city, the amusement park opens from 19:00-24:00 in the evening. It operates nine pieces of large-scaled pleasure-seeking equipment imported from Italy, such as swinging pirate ship, roller coaster, high-speed up-down lift. It also has an electronics games hall for children to play simulated motorcycles, shooting skeet and playing other games.Among them, the 54-meter-high high-speed up-down lift is the most popular as it enables players to enjoy not only the excitement but also the birds-eye night view of Pyongyang City. However, the women in skirts are not allowed to take it.Admission to the park is 20 wons for adults and half the rate for children. 1,400 wons are enough to play all the gadgets.The park does not receive individuals. Applications for admission have to be filed in the collective names as units, school and residential quarters and a unified arrangement are made by the park.A tourist guide said the park receives 5,000-6,000 visitors a day.It was learned that DPRK President Kim Jong-il instructed all officials of the central government and Pyongyang city government, except the aged and those in poor health, to try all the facilities before the park opened to the public so as to ensure safety of the people.Besides, the city transit department has extended subways operation time at Kaeson station to midnight and the power department set up two dedicated power supply lines to ensure the parks daily operation.
