Summary Tenth death anniversary of legendary classical singer Salamat Ali Khan is being observed today.
The prominent figure of Sham Chaurasi Ghaarana, Ustad Salamat Ali Khan was born in 1934 in Sham Chaurasi, district Hoshiarpur.Ustad Salmat Ali Khan, along with his elder brother Nazakat Ali Khan, got musical education from Ustad Vilayat Hussain Khan. Ustad Salamat Ali Khan strived hard to train his son Sharafat Ali Khan and was successful in introducing his other son Shafqat Ali Khan who became mesmerizing voice of classical singing.Ustad Salamat Ali Khan was honoured with Pride of Performance award during President Ayoub Khan’s era.In later years of his life, Ustad Salamat Ali Khan fell victim of diabetics and passed away on July 11, 2001.
