The stats were shared by Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh. The film is both highest opener of 2018 and Ranbir’s highest opener to date. Adarsh further predicted that Sanju would amass INR 100 crore in first week of its release.
"Non-holiday. Non-festival release. Yet, Sanju packs a phenomenal total on Day 1. Emerges as the biggest opener of 2018 [so far]. Also, Ranbir s highest opener to date. Expected to cross Rs. 100 crore in 3 days, as per trends... Fri Rs. 34.75 crore," Taran Adarsh tweeted.

The film also features Diya Mirza and Anushka Sharma in the lead role. The film is getting raving reviews from both critics and audience. Co-stars including Amir Khan and Ranbir’s new girl friend Alia Bhatt has also praised Ranbir Kapoor in Dutt’s Avatar.

The film is "outstanding." "I really liked it. It is a fantastic, fabulous and an outstanding film. I think in my top 10 best film list, Sanju is high up there. Ranbir is outstanding in it," Alia Bhatt said at a recent media interaction in Mumbai.
Interestingly, Dutt was the main lead for Rajkumar Hirani’s debut film Munnabhai MBBS, which had performed quite well at the box office, thereby resurrecting Dutt’s career and establishing Hirani as a force to reckon with.
