FAISALABAD: Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) is going to conduct a two day environmental conference today. Environmental Sciences Department of the university will held the moot with the support of Higher Education Commission and the Pakistan Science Foundation.
The participants will discuss the issues related to air pollution, land degradation, water quality and climate change.
VC Dr Zakir Hussain will chair the inaugural session. Authorities from several European and Asian countries had been requested to participate.

The GC University firstly started functioning as a primary school in 1897 in the present building of Govt. College for Women, Karkhana Bazar, Faisalabad. Further it was promoted to High School and Intermediate College in 1905 and 1924 respectively.
Then it was upraised to the degree level in 1933 and postgraduate disciplines were introduced in 1963. The university got the degree awarding status in October 2002.
